Hello,

I am wondering if i should get a new CPU, I am playing a lot of bf3 at the moment and the cpu usage is at 100 percent when i play it. i have a AMD FX-4100 4-Core Processor and i think about buying Intel® Core i7-3770K Processor, but can anyone tell me how much the difference will be?

Thanks

The difference between the two processors would be night and day the i7 is almost double the price, but it performs MUCH better. considering you have a bulldozer it wouldn't be a bad idea to go for the fx 8350 as it's the same socket i believe you'll only need to update the bios. The fx 8350 is a reasonable choice. it doesn't cost as much.

Edit: forgot to mention it will be compatible with your mobo too since the 8350 and 4100 are both am3+

Just check for Battlefield 3 benchmarks online... You'll see that there is never a difference of more than 1FPS between the Core i7 and the FX 8150 (not 8350!). But that's singleplayer.
There is however a difference in multiplayer gaming.

The FX 8350 is the better choice compared to the i5 3570K, not only because it will provide better performance(In multithreaded applications like BF3), but also because you can use your old motherboard with it.
But then again, if you can afford the Core i7, which is basicly superior to the FX in every aspect, go for it. That is unless you don't mind spending twice more cash for10% FPS gains.

And by the way the benches lostgames_03 linked are really old, and were made back when the drivers weren't that optimised.
This article is a lot newer
