More about good video card minecraft
  1. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150604
    7870, $250 and $20 rebate

That will utterly destroy minecraft at any settings. Completely overkill. What PSU do you have?
    EDIT:CPU as well.
EDIT 2: This one is better for $5 more after rebate:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102983

yah i'm buying a new psu anyway, so don't worry about that, cpu is core i7 3770k, it is not overclocked
  3. If all you are playing is minecraft, then get a 6670. My old computer had a 6450 and it ran it on 100-200 frames per second.

Also get an amd card because they have open gl. Also, in general nvidia cards are a ripoff compared to nvidia. If you are gonna play difficult to run games like bf3, crysis, max payne 3 etc. I would get a 7870

    or a 660

  4. minecraft isn't a graphically intense game. You could use integrated graphics and it will be good enough.

    what about this card: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1258164
  6. Its memory you need to be worried about
ive burned up over 5 gigs on minecraft 64 bit java with a custom 256x256 custom texture pack, ive used even higher before but never measured the memory use.
  7. What are you buying PSU wise?
  8. OK but with those specs and the i7 3770k, how many fps about will I get on this card? http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1258164
  9. about the same as without it. That chip has integrated graphics, but it mostly uses the processor. My son is using a 955BE and he's getting over 100fps on minecraft.
  10. You will get more than 60 fps, that is all that matters. But I don't think it would be a good idea to get a 2gb card that is 128bit. It will take a long time to read the ram because the bus is slow. I would get the one I recommended since it is $25 cheaper.
  11. I have read a lot of good reviews about this one, so i think I will get this one: http://pricespy.co.nz/product.php?p=1054503
  12. NOO!!! Don't get that one, amd will run minecraft better. That card is way overpriced. IF you need to get a nvidia card get a gtx 650 or gtx 560se. Also, why is that $197? If you are gonna spend that much get a 7850, 6950, or 560ti.

That cpu is has intergrated graphics 4000 i think, even that will get a good 80-90 frames a second using a 32x32 texture pack.
  15. If you want to really push Minecraft to the max, download a 256x256 HD texture pack and Sonic Esther's Unbelievable Shaders mod. Then go into fullscreen on a 1920x1200 monitor. That it is where a good video card comes in handy. Otherwise, >4 gigs of ram should easily handle Minecraft - just don't plan to do mass TNT explosions with no lag.
  16. I would suggest a 7770, a 7870 is too much for what you need.
  17. Yeah cheesy might be right. Minecraft is really easy to run. I can run minecraft with 10-20fps with my 3 year old atom cpu on my netbook.

Are you sure? I have a i5 and intel hd graphics 3000 atm, 3 or 4 fps (6gb ram)

I have an i3 2000 graphics and it runs 32x32 texture packs at 15-30 fps.
