I decided to experiment with overclocking my again E6600 to get some more performance out of it. I have been running at 3.0ghz for about two years now. My goal is to reach 3.3+
Anyways, the issue I ran into in the past was that I felt I was setting my bio's voltages waayyyyy to high for the speed I was achieving.
My mobo is a P5N32E-SLI Plus. Im using 8gb of generic crucial ram. Can get ram spec if wanted.
For 3.0ghz I had it set to:
Memory Voltage: Auto
1.2V HT Voltage: 1.35
NB Core: 1.4
SB Core: 1.5
CPU VTT: 1.55
Today I decided to say screw it and pump it up higher because I could not get it too boot or run orthos for more than a few seconds when I raised the fsb. Im testing 3.3ghz at a Vcore of 1.51 or so volts right now and it is shockling doing just fine.. This seems very very high. BUT, I have CPU-Z and HW Monitor open and CPU-Z is reading about 1.392, and HWM is also reading 1.392.
Hmmmmmm. Could my issues be that my bios settings aren't reflecting what it is actually putting out?
How accurate are these two programs for monitoring voltage?
