The Sony CPD-E440B Black 19" CRT for $299 and the Hitachi CM721FB 19" FLAT-FACED CRT Monitor Short Neck (Black) for $276 both at newegg. I read the review and they say both are great monitors. I know nothing about these two monitors. Should I go with the Sony or Hitachi?

My experience with Hitachi is that they are not as bright as Sonys; however, having said that, monitors are very subjective animals. You should actually see the monitor in action -- preferably after it has warmed up for for 20-30 minutes.

I have three of them (all Mitsubishi), for my Photoshop work and would never buy one without actually seeing it. I buy them locally so that they can be easily returned. You can of course return them by mailorder but the weight of these suckers sure makes the shipping charges scary.
