Hi everyone , I was wondering if anyone could help me since I am building a gaming pc after having another one for 8 years.
The problem is my old system was an AMD Athlon 3200+ with 1GB of RAM and a Radeon 9600 Family Edition. So since there is an 8 years difference in technology I am not aware of the potential of a modern computer.

Since I live in Argentina and hardware is extremely expensive here (between 250 and 300% more than the US) This is the best proposal I had for U$$ 1200. On this proposal also the remaining parts of the system unit are included. However I am interested in this components only: CPU , RAM , GPU , HDD

AMD FX 6100 Black Edition
4x2 Kingston Hyper X Predator 1600Mhz
Nvidia GT640 2GB DDR3
WD 2TB HDD

I do not plan to buy a monitor , my intention is to connect the computer to my LED TV via a HDMI cable.

Will this be a competent gaming machine? By competent , I mean that I will be able to run most games in high specs or that is at least as powerful as a PS3 or a XBOX 360.

Thanks a lot for your help!!

somethings to suggest

-get a phenom ii x4 965. performs better than fx in games even though its older
-you can drop to 4gb depending on how much money you want to save
-id at least get a 7770 or a 7850 video card to get high-ultra settings
-drop down to a seagate barracuda 1tb hard drive instead.

if you want to you can go to the US and then buy and build a pc there.

Thanks! I could even save more money since I can get the OS for free by my college!
