I've read that several times while search for a fix for the demo.

Looks like I'm off the buyers list...That's really disappointing.

There HAS to be co-op, or at least some sort of single-player mode in
the full game. Why would they spend time developing (pretty good
actually) AI for the demo only to leave it out of the full game?

But as you well know, Villy, there is a difference between singleplayer
mode and "Co-op" mode.

Just because you can play singleplayer against bots, that doesn't mean you
can play a multiplayer game with bots.

That is a big deal to me, as my wife enjoys BF (mostly DC), but only if we
are on the same team ;)

If true, the lack of a Co-Op mode may be the straw that broke the camel's
back for me. (In this case, that would only mean I'd wait til BF2 goes on
sale before buying :-P)

Point taken. As far as I can see, the only essential difference between
co-op and SP is that in co-op you can have more than one human player in
the same game. I still can't understand why they would go to all the
trouble to create a pretty decent AI and not make a co-op mode
available...

You and I are both pretty lucky by the sounds of it, both of our other
halves being gamers :)

My missus won't play BF, despite my attempts to get her to give it a
try. She is currently playing Diablo 2 and is really keen on Age of
Kings and the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale series. I consider myself a
lucky man, at least she understands the attraction of sitting there
playing games for hours on end, most blokes are nowhere near as
fortunate. :)

Is it for certain that it will have no co-op? My son and I love to be
on the same team and no co-op mode would really make me think twice
about getting BF2.

Much to my surprise I have found that CO-OP mode is alive and well in
the game! Simply have the server person select single player mode and
have your friends join the IP (allow port 16567 through of course). I
found this by mistake - my sis tried connecting to my machine before I
was ready for her - to my surprise she joined my single player game!

3. The "Hot" topic in the SP community right now: Cooperative
multiplayer with bots gamemode will or will not be shipped with BF2 at
release? If not, can you comment in more detail on this decision and
if there are any future plans for Coop?

"This is correct, we will not be shipping with coop support in
Battlefield 2. Since single-player in Battlefield 2 is focused on
training players for full multiplayer matches (a gateway to
multiplayer) we chose to focus on each of the modes separately and
eliminate coop. There are no plans at this time to add coop support in
a patch."

Looks like they're were not planning on it. That said, they're fairly
responsive to their customers, if enough people want it, it'll
probably be put in.

I usually run a dedicated server. Most games are just too laggy
playing online (could be my ISP, but my pings are steady in CS 20+).

No choice in map size (although I've already had the enlarged map 32
and 64 running with the demo---no ai path for the larger map though,
but if I hand delivered a copter to one of the bots, they're more then
happy to rain hell down from the sky, it was something to see)

No choice in the amount of bots on a map (although that's already been
hacked as well).

No commander mode in single player, which seems kinda silly because
everybody needs practice.

No (few) admin controls, I don't mind (kinda perfer) doing things
through the console

Can't comment/help on most of your issues, but commander mode is present
in single player (debatable as to how much the ai listens but it is there)

Yes, there is. Just apply for it as normal (Caps Lock by default to pull
up the tactics screen).

Cool! Nice to see.

I noticed that the SP game was 'starting a server' on my internal IP.
Never thought that it would allow connections remotely ;)

But the Coop mode had more game options so you could use it to setup a game
to play as single player with the setting you want. I bet most players of
BF1942 that played ofline used the coop mode to play.

The AI on hardest setting just boots my ass and makes me feel like a
total idiot. Gotta love it.

I wish they'd turn up the fear or give the bots a greater sense of
self preservation. Peeking around corners, crawling and sneaking could
really make the hard setting unique.
