System doesnt recieve power when 4 pin is connected

So I build my friend a computer recently with an MSI Micro ATX motherboard, and now it won't turn on. I stripped it down to just the 24 pin and 4 pin connectors hooked up. When the 4 pin connector is in, no power gets delivered. The moment I take out the 4pin and turn it on, the case fans will spin, and the board gets power. Tested with two different PSUs and had the same problem, even tried taking out and putting back in the battery to no avail. Is it a bad mobo?

    Did it ever turn on?

If not here is our standard checklist.

  2. It did turn on for a while, and now its not.
  3. Any more info than that? What happened when it died? Any error codes? Will it boot at all now?
  4. I wasn't there when it stopped working, but it wont boot at all. When the 4 pin is connected, nothing gets power
  5. Then if you have tested it with a known good power supply it's probably the motherboard. I would still breadboard it to rule out a short somewhere and if that does not do it then RMA the board.
