Should probably buy a decent power supply first, don't want to blow up your whole system. I've never bought anything from from ibuypower, but chances are they use the cheapest PSUs that they can find.

What's the make and model of the psu? I see no reason to replace it, since you'll be using about 80w less with the new card than you are now with the old cards, so mace's advice makes zero sense.

7970 is a good choice.

I have to question the memory configuration though, if your running 3 sticks your running in single channel mode. I'd remove one stick and run in dual channel mode. You'll need to make sure they are in the correct slots though for dual channel mode.

I use AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB - CrossFire Mode all the time. I would think it pull more power the 2 cards then the ASUS AMD Radeon HD 7970 , and is the SeaSonic S12II 520 Bronze 520W, watt wise enough. im a noob when it comes to hardware. thanks

Thats true that it will pull less power, but still, cheap PSU's are scary, plus you gotta have at least one 8 pin connection.
