Sporadic DVI signal loss

System Specs
----------------------
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 (no onboard video)
AMD Phenom II X6 1090T
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
EVGA GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 (driver version: 8.17.13.142)
Asus VW224u 24" monitor
Tagan BZ Series 900 Watt modular

This rig is roughly a year old.

*Aero is turned off.

Problem
----------------------
Random black screen (No DVI Signal).
On boot I see the splash .. OS loading etc. Desktop loads and roughly 30 seconds later I get the No DVI message. At this point I can plug in the Samsung (vga->dvi adapter) into the same port and there's no problem.

Yes, I have checked ...
----------------------
Card is seated correctly.
Uninstalled / Re-installed the card with latest drivers.
Swapped PCI-E slots
Checked Ram, CPU, Power cables for card
Bios .. Init Display (PEG)
Ran DXDiag (64bit) ... no issues found.

Tested the Asus monitor on my other system and it works fine.
Tested the DVI cable as well ... no probs.

I'm at a loss.

More about sporadic signal loss
  1. Have you checked the Asus drivers for your monitor? Also what resolutions are they both at? Perhaps it doesn't support the resolution and shuts off but your Samsung does.
  2. The Asus VW224U has no drivers according to Asus support.

The Asus by far out specs the samsung...

    Asus VW224u max resolution: 1680 x 1050 (recommended) *that's what I run

Samsung in VGA mode 1280 x 1024 (recommended)

Do note that I have had the system for almost a year and the problem only recently started ... about 2 weeks ago.
