I3 3220+7870 or FX 8320+7850

Hi,
So whats better the i3 3220 and the 7870 joker card that has 200 more processors or a FX 8320 and a sapphire 7850.
Also if i go with the FX steamdriver will come out next year.
If i go with an i3 3220 i can upgrade to an i5 3570k later on, but i will be stuck with dual core for 1 year.
Which One?
Thanks!

  1. I say neither.

Go for a 965 BE, buy a 7850 (7870 if you REALLY want to. There is little performance difference to justify the difference in cost), and be happy that you saved 40 quid.
  2. Core i3-3220 + 7870.
The Core i3 is at least as good as the 965 BE.
  3. +1 on the 965BE if you can get the 7870 LE its worth it over the 7850 but the 7850 I think is the best value card around.
  4. The i3 is as good or better than the stock 965BE but cannot overclock and costs more.
  5. if for game in 1080p gpu is more importance then cpu (generally rule)
if u really want to go with FX steamroller next year then u can get a fx6300 & the best graphic card you can afford (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202025)
  6. I agree with Sakkura and Simon on the I3. But what about the I5 really that would be better than both of those and if you got a "k" version you would be able to overclock it.
  7. my resolution is 1024x768.
Upgrading if i get enough cash left over.
  8. I recommend a 1080 monitor even if it means you get a 965BE and a 1Gb 7850, games just look bad at that res. even on ultra (thats my opinion anyway).

    The cheapest it can be.
    I can get an 965BE a 7850 and a 21.5" 1080p monitor and the rest for 430 pounds.
  11. Go with that x4 965+hd 7850+1080p led
  12. FX6300 + 7870, or Phenom II. AMD is a good buy now with steamroller coming out next year on AM3+ socket. If you buy Ivy or Sandy now... You are dead ending yourself.

That is a complete waste of money there is no point in getting an Phenom II or 6300 now then upgrading in a year to a new processor. If he is going to do that he would be better off just getting a better processor like an I5 3570K that is better than the 6300 and 8XXX Piledrivers from the start.

Also Ivy Brdges is no more a dead end than Bulldozer or Piledriver. You are not dead ending yourself with an Ivy Bidges processor especially considering that it is better than Bulldozer and Piledriver and it will continue to be fine for gaming even in the future. Also it is no more a dead end than AMD's sockets. After the next line of CPU's AMD will probably be switching sockets to as they will probably be doing a die shrink to keep up with Intel. The point is that there is no such thing as future proofing and to try to "sell" someone a certain CPU because "it is more future proof" is a load of crap.
