The 7690m seems to be more powerful than the 550m, and the one with the 7690m also has a quad-core i7 which will beat the dual core i5 in the other one. Basically, are you willing to sacrifice gaming performance for faster responsiveness. I would say get the 2670QM and 7690m, then upgrade the HDD later.

i ended up just going with a asus g72, i got in a bidding war and spent way more than i shoulda :/
