My video looks bad. It has random flashes of pink or green, or has spots.

According o Microsoft online support.
Answer:
This problem is usually associated with certain video card drivers that have difficulty with some direct draw features that the Windows Media Player utilizes. In many cases, simply updating the drivers for your video card will correct the problem. If this does not correct the problem, try disabling some of the Windows Media Player Direct Draw options:

Open a file in the Windows Media Player.
Click the file and choose Properties.
In the Properties dialog box, choose the Advanced tab.....etc etc.

Problem is i don't undertand what they mean?
If i play a file and right click for properties i don't get any tabs at all?

I assume you mean "video is bad while using media player" rather than bad all the time yes?

try installing/reinstalling directx 8.1

I'll dig around and see if I can find it tonight when I get home.

In the meantime, post some more info. What OS are you using? What version of media player? What video card?

"It has random flashes of pink or green, or has spots"

1) Stop watching that Bugs Bunny cartoon.
2) Don't start watching any of the Pink Panther cartoons.

I'm using media player 8.0, so I'm not sure where to go on 7.1.

Somewhere in there you'll see a checkmark for 'GDI'. There's some other stuff about YUV and RGB too.

Select the top mode "GDI" (safe mode).
