PNY 550 Ti vs EVGA 8800 GTS 320 MB

Hello Guys,

I would like your expertise in here, I used to have an EVGA 8800 GTS 320 MB (G80) Graphics Card, unfortunately it got damaged so I was looking to get another one, my choice was the PNY 550 Ti 1GB so my question is if this "Upgrade" was ok, I tried getting the GTX 560 Ti but it was about the double of the price so after a brief research I found this was my best choice.

My new card (PNY 550 Ti) price is of $129.99 (US Dlls), the 560 which I have always wanted to buy (I still do) costs around 249 bucks (The MSI Twin Frozr II), anyway any other option around 130 bucks will be highly appreciated.

Please note I have a Corsair GS600 (600 watts Gaming power supply) so the power supply isn't an issue.

These are the cards:

More about evga 8800
  1. Large upgrade, the 8800 GTS was strong, about 5+ years ago.

The 550TI features modern architechture and is much faster. It also had DirectX11.
  2. It's a pretty decent upgrade I use the 320mb 8800gts card and a 550ti is definately a upgrade.

Another option is the radeon 7770, when I was looking at gpu's to upgrade from a few months ago that was one of two cards I was looking at. If I recall it was similar performance to the 550ti but used less power, something to look into. And It was roughly the same price.
  3. Huge upgrade haha!

Got for the 550 Ti, it's great! :)
  4. Thanks guys :)

I asked because as I said I bought it but it will be shipping within the next few days.
Can't wait to "taste" it LOL

    Regards!!
  5. Big upgrade get it ;) and it has DirectX11 support :D

I'll sum it up, the 550Ti beats the 8800gtx by about 20% with half the power consumption and both cards easily beat the old G80 gts. Save your old card as a collectors item.
