Windows 7 update problems

Please help
Last night I was shutting off my laptop and windows 7 had to update. After a long while at the update screen, and the screen was completely frozen, so against my best judgement I shut it off. Now. Whenever i turn it on, it looks like a normal boot up but after the resuming windows screen, the screen just goes blank and I can't do anything. I can tell the screen is on, but I can't acces anything. I was wondering if I can fix it myself, or if I had to call customer support somewhere, or if I should just send it into a tech place like bestbuy or something to fix it. I am very bad with. Computers so any help is greatly appreciated.

Your laptop should have come with a repair disk. Insert that disk and reboot the system. You should get an option to boot from that disk. Do so and run a repair.

I've been looking a while and cant find the disk. If it turns out that I no longer have it, what would be my next best option?

Head over to a local computer shop. They may be able to do a repair, but don't be surprised if they end up doing a full format/install.
