I'm looking to buy a dedicated macro lens for my Nikon D70. I'd like to
hear from other Nikon DSLR owners, experienced with various macro
lenses.
I generally prefer to stay with Nikkor for my prime glass, but I've
heard some good things about third party macro lenses and I'm wondering
if I should broaden my search to include lenses from other
manufacturers. Compatibility issues, multiplication factor, and what-not
may or may not affect performance/critical focus et cetera will be key
points to consider in making my decision.

The 60mm f/2.8 is reasonably priced and very sharp. The only real
disadvantage is that at 1:1 the distance from the front of the lens to
the subject is small.

I just use my good old 55mm Micro-Nikor I use/d on my F3. Must work in
manual mode but that isn't much of a problem.
