Hello,

I just bought an HD 7870 card and was wondering if there is a way to enable hybrid crossfire/dual graphics with the internal IGP (HD 4290) of my 890GX mobo.

Can it be done?

I would like to use my IGP for desktop browsing/overnight downloads and enable by 7870 only when playing games.

No there's not. Plus, are you that concerned about power? That's the only difference it will make, and even there, the 7870 consumes almost nothing when it's idle (which it is pretty much when you're just browsing/downloading). Also, crossfire would utilise your 7870 just as much as if it were alone. The only solution I see is to plug one screen in your IGPU and another screen in your 7870, or to switch your screen from one card to the other.
