Is crossfire working properly?

So I recently got another HD 6950 2GB to run in Crossfire. However here are my benchmark results:

Metro 2033: +61-100%

Max Payne 3 with x8 MSAA: +50%

Just Cause 2: +30%

STALKER CoP: +100%

L4D2: +0%

FC2: +0%

Portal 2: +0%

The Witcher 2: +0%

FurrMark: +79%

Heaven Benchmark: +61%

So are these normal results? L4D2 and Portal 2 don't matter to be because they already get obscenely high frame rates. However TW2 and Far Cry 2 especially bother me. I have an i5-3570k and a sufficient PSU; so they are not the problem (Trust me!). I know having a x16 and a x4 PCie crossfire is bad, but come on! FC2 in know to work well with AMD CF!!! Help please!!!

Maybe check to see if the cards are actually being used in like MSI Afterburner.

Witcher 2 doesn't work with 7970 Crossfire right now at all... and I'm not sure they have any intention of fixing it, so it's possible that it's just broken for 6950 crossfire as well.

Anyawys, what resolution are you playing at? You're probably losing some performance for having x16/x4, but that does seem odd.

Do you have MSI Afterburner installed so that you can monitor GPU usage during your tests/benchmarking? That will show you if both your cards are being utilized or not.

I'm playing at 1080p, and I just ran Afterburner with the FC2 benchmark. Gpu2 got 100% use, GPU1 got 50%!!! WTF!?

Which one is in the x4 slot? That sounds more like some sort of weird bottlenecking problem than crossfire simply not working properly.

The secondary card is x4. The primary is a PCie 3.0 x16.

So I have a new theory as to why this is happening. Since the 2nd PCIe slot is only x4, it can only send 20-30 FPS at once before running out of bandwidth. Thus in demanding games like metro: 2033, I get 100% scailing since it takes longer to actually render the frame. However in games where I get 60+ FPS, the faster lane has to slow down for the second one; thus not increasing FPS, or lowering it a little.

May I be correct? Thoughts?

the x4 slot is definitely a bandwidth bottleneck... but it should still add some frames to most games (unless it doesn't support cfx at all like witcher 2...)

what kind of motherboard is it?

It's an AsRock Pro4-m. It seemed like the best matx I could get for the price. (Now I wish I had the extreme version though...)
