I can get a XFX Radeon HD 7950 3GB Double Dissipation Edition for around the same amount as a GTX 660 Ti and was wondering which I should get. I have seen the benchmarks and the 660 Ti usually beet the 7950 at stock clocks but I don't know what will happen after they have both been overclocked.

Where did you read those results? The 660ti is closer to 7870 from what I've read, more or less 5% better/worse depending on the game. If you can get a 7950 for $300 don't hesitate getting it.

I'd have to agree, even if the 660ti can match the 7950, it would only be nvidia sponsored games. 90% of the time the 7950 will be faster and you will be able to crank every setting to the max. The 660ti doesn't handle high supersampling very well thanks to the wonderful 192bit memory (sorry, had to put that sarcasm in there).

they excel in different games. and choke in different situations. either is a fine choice, the only reason why i would buy a 660ti at the moment because it comes with borderlands 2, which i would have purchased so i picture the the 660ti less than what it is atm

benches can vary. according to anandtech, the 7950 should have beaten the 660ti in crysis and batman, especially crysis, because crysis is antialiasing heavy, and the 192 bit brandwith of the 660ti would be crippled by it, toms findings would agree as well for both batman and crysis 2 and this is at stock clocks. so whichever site you had benchmarks for is very questionable.
