I have an old Compaq Presario from 2007 that is going to be collecting dust after I build a new computer. I want to turn it into a Home theater computer. Not full on home theater I have a 6.1 surround sound system and a 1080p tv. I mostly just want to use it to play fansubbed cartoons or browse the web on the tv. I'm thinking of just adding a minimal graphics card with an HDMI output and a wireless network card.

Network card

Let me know if you recommend anything different/better.

Never been a big fan of USB adapters. Too easily broken IMO, so I prefer internal cards. Your system specs state you have an available PCI-Ex1 slot so I'd look at something like this network adapter

I thought that they would break easily as well but i've had good luck with them. I'll do the internal though. Any opinion on the graphics card? Also I just finished watching "The Grey" so your name and avatar gave me a chuckle.

The graphics card is barely above on-board graphics. Should be fine though.

Consult a professional home theater system installer. But have you bought a home theater seating to make your living space a mini hall?
