Do AMD and Nvidia work well together

as the title says do they work well because my friends are saying that if i get the 660ti and i have a fx-8120 that my cpu and gpu will not work well together(ie AMD nvidia)

What is the truth?

mixing different video card manufacturers: bad

mixing AMD cpu and Nvidia GPU is not negative. what is correct, is that for the same price, intel cpus are typically better for gaming.

it's not like intel and nvidia are the same company and you get some sort of advantage.

I understand that there are better cpus... and so the 660ti should work fine with the AMD cpu no slower performance or anything

the only time where cpu+gpu combination is relevant is

A) bottlenecking
B) if its a llano/trinity chip and you want hybrid crossfire

other than that, it doesnt matter what cpu/gpu combination you use.

I had a 9800GT and a Phenom II X2 550. Just upgraded to a 1055T and a GTX 660. Skyrim, Diablo 3, and Planetside 2 run so much better on max settings now!
