For the final time now,

I would like to buy a £500 Gaming PC.

I'm looking at the Radeon 6850 GPU and the Intel i5-2500k but the latter seems a bit pricey to be honest.

I'll be buying this PC and then 2 months later I'll be able to spend an extra £100 upgrading it.... (Cross-fired 6850s?)

I've had a look around at ^^this combination and it seems absolutely perfect for what I want it to do but, like I said, It's a bit pricey

I'm going to need everything, maybe even a CPU cooler so I can overclock it, but I need an OS, Mouse & Keyboard (Maybe a cheap headset) and I'll be using a HDMI cable to hook this up to my TV to save on a monitor

So...If I do end up building the PC you find then God Bless your soul 0:)

TOTAL - £565.08

Ok I'm nearly 20% over budget... dam windows!

If you cant stretch that far you could save £10 getting half the RAM, Spend £20 less by getting a cheaper case, get this motherboard for £30 less http://www.cclonline.com/product/77029/GA-970A-DS3/Motherboards/Gigabyte-GA-970A-DS3-AMD-970A-Socket-AM3-DDR3-PCI-Express-ATX-Motherboard/MBD0350/ but this mobo's second PCIe is at X4.

Reasons for above build

i5 is not realistic at your budget games are GPU bound so getting great CPU and bad GPU is pointless. Your budget wouldn;t get a very good 1155 mobo either.

That CPU can OC very well it will then game as well as any i3 and be better in non gaming tasks than the i3. The motherboard is very well featured and there's a cooler in there for OC'ing

RAM is RAM like I said you can shave money there if you get 4GB and still manage, 8GB is more comfortable though

DVD drive is a DVD drive if you ahve an old machine take one from that and save here

GPU is best I could fit in to the budget the CPU can handle a better one so bottleneck is not an issue you will be GPU bound

PSU is more than enough that series from OCZ is well reviewed

Yeah, about me making these threads before... I have but everytime I make one and get the pieces ready, I'm forced to change the price of the pc and change the parts accordingly, then the budget shifts again and it gets quite annoying, AND I cant seem to find my old threads :(

Can you Cross-fire with that motherboard and if so would it affect performance at all if it were to add a 6850 later on?

The 990xa motherboard can crossfire with the 2nd lane at x8 can also SLi as well, it's socket AM3+ too so future upgrades are possible. It's a solid board I run one with a Phenom II X6. Adding a 2nd card later on would increase your gaming performance nicely.

*Edit for grammar*

It's.. okay to post in the same thread with an updated build, you know.
And there's a notification window when someone replies to your thread, so I'm not sure how you can miss that. :p

You can Crossfire on the UD3, but you can't on the other one.

You could crossfire on the cheaper board with the 2nd slot at X4 (It's Nvidia SLi wouldnt work) but it wouldnt be as effective as the better board with the 2nd slot at X8. Also the better board is a better choice for any overclocking (though again its doable on the cheaper)
