and most difficult is gorilla mode which contains 100 waves i ended up within 10 waves

you do realize that the gtx 570 and the radeon 6790 are quite different in terms of performance

Huntkey makes some power supplies that are actually decent, and some of the power supplies they make are just awful. I'm thinking you have a good one.

The 6790 is a good choice if you are getting it for a good price. If you are like buying it from a friend or something then yea sure go for it.

But online its a bit expensive and there are better cards for the price.

just want to point out that while one contributor is running the game with ultra settings
using a gtx570 at the same res you have and is getting 60fps that the hd6790 generally
runs games at about half the speed of gtx570(30fps here?). Also your particular cpu is
a multiplier locked i3 on a platform that is unfriendly to base clock adjustments and the
gtx570 user may have something beefier like a fairly well overclocked core i5k processor
and twice the memory. don't know much about what this game needs to run smooth at
ultra but maybe your proc and or ram may be a performance bottleneck too?

This is true. Except the contributor is making a point, saying that at his resolution he can play any game at the highest settings it could possibly go.

http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu.php?gpu=Radeon+HD+6790

In a Passmark test, the 6970 is obviously slower than the GTX570, but the point he was trying to make is that the card would be able to play games on that resolution.

The i3-2120 will not bottleneck any modern graphics cards today save for maybe a 7970 or a GTX690.

yeah, that chart really tells me nothing.

according to wikipedia, the minimum requirements for grfs are as follows

vista sp2 or 7 sp1 32 or 64 bit
pentium d 3.0 or a64x2 4400+ 2.2
2GB ram
256MB sm4.0 card
dxll
25GB free hdd space
internet

those are to run at the lowest levels of detail and res and get what? 30fps?

now what is recommended

same for os
C2Q 9450/phenom II x4 940 or faster
3GB ram
1GB gtx460/hd5850 or better
the rest the same.

this to run the game with highest settings and higher res(1080p?) at still 30fps?

the original poster is running a 1366x768 panel that is pretty equivalent to 720p.

that youtube video runs the 6790 on a phenom II x4 3.2, 16GB ram, a 1280x1024
monitor and makes no mention of fps. I'm guessing since the recording is in
widescreen that the actual gameplay res is 1280x720(after calibrating my crt by
wikapedia-ing circle and expanding an image showing 90 degree angle vertical
and horizontal then measuring video to be about 12.75in x 7.25 in. 921,600 pixels.

I found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1cIKYwLc-I&feature=related

this video is a gtx550ti with an i5 2300 2.8, 6GB ram and 1366x768 res running
the game maxed out 35fps(25fps w/fraps). The system requirements seem to favor
nvidia somewhat(original gtx460 1GB 256bit=hd6850, 5850/6870=gtx560non ti).
similarly a 6790 is usually a little faster than a gtx550ti. If you can deal with fps
like that, then maybe it will work for you. still wonder about the i3 tho since both
videos run quads as are recommended, but this i3 is much faster than the dualies
listed in the minimum requirements.

since the a64x2 4400+ usually outperforms a pentium d at 3.0(same for C2Q 9450
over phenom II x4 940 I would say the game maybe prefers intel for dual core and
AMD for quad at least based on those generations. the i3 is more closely related
to the core 2 but boosts performance alot by integrating the memory controller.

what was my point?

Then according to that video and the point you made, he should be able to run it. The 6770 is about the same as the 550Ti, and the 6790 is quicker than the 6770, so it is alas faster than the 550Ti.

I don't personally have any doubts about the i3, for I have done many builds for clients with the purpose of gaming with the 2100 or the 2120 in it, and all I've heard back is that its darn quick.

I'd say that with a 2120 and a 6790 the OP would be able to run it on the max it goes, and if not maybe turn off the anti-aliasing.

yeah, i guess that is where i was heading. my data is second hand, but i cede the point
to you about i3, since it seems you have a lot of hands on experience with that cpu.

agree about aa. don't know if grfs can do fxaa(or similar) but that would probably allow
for similar IQ to more traditional aa with next to no performance hit ( biggest diff. between
6790 and next higher 6850 is 16vs32 rops).
