Hi, I don't play so many games these days, but I would like to play Hitman Absolution, Assassins Creed III & New Need For Speed Most Wanted. I currently have, Pentium4 2.5 GHz (Hyper Threading Processor).

My Questions:
1). Is Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHZ 6MB CACHE a Good Choice for Gaming? (At least for a while)
2). Will my "MSI 945GC 945GCM7, LGA775 Intel Chipset Motherboard Support it? (Answer Question 2: In light of my this thread http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/332037-30-motherboard... )

Thanks.

C2D is a overclocking beast. I still have my first build with E4300 overclocked to 3.7Ghz
with a CM liquid cooler and a G45 mobo.
it was good but electricity bills are a headache!

Here is the processor Ark Intel Link. I can't a feature that says it can be Over-Clocked. Please take a look & let me know if I missed something or Does this one even have Over-clocking Feature.

Also tell me, if I use it at its Original Speed (3.00 GHz) without Overclocking, will it still be Good?

Thanks.

Off course it can be overclocked and performs much better when oc

It will be passable with a good video card as long as it's not BF3 multiplayer (and you didn't mention that one). I came from a C2 Duo 2.66 with first an 8800GTX then a Radeon 6770 (just trying to limp it along) and it was unplayable at 1080 on BF3. Most other games fared a lot better but don't expect miracles.
