Hello.

A friend of mine has an illegal copy of Windows XP. I have just bought a copy of Windows 7 (VLK) for my company. (Which He now works for) I have upgraded from Window 2000 to XP before however I have never upgraded from an ilgial copy to a legal copy of windows. I will do a back up of all files before upgrading to Windows 7.
The Windows XP already has detected that the copy (XP that is) is illegal... will this cause any errors during the Windows 7 upgrade or should be just a straight forward upgrade?
Any advice is welcome.

TIA

Hugh

This is true but if he is using a Windows 7 upgrade disk, it will still look for the presence of a prior OS and then the install will rename it Windows old and install a fresh copy. However, it does not care or check if the prior OS is legal or not. Frankly it does not care if the prior version of the OS was a trial install or not, catch my drift?
