I currently just built a new HTPC. I am trying to hook it up to the surround sound, being that my plasma does not haven a audio out option. I have a ASRock FM2A85X Extreme6 FM2 AMD A85X (Hudson D4) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard and it has a optical out and a digital out. When I have one or anything hooked up, I have to have the sound cranked on my receiver to barley even hear it. I have looked at the computer settings and the setting of the motherboard sound and still no fix. My recvicer is outdated, but only has rca and digital optic input. I have also tried a small usb 7.1 (POS) that hooks up to the receiver.
I also need to to tell you I am ruining this through a stereo cable with rca at the other end. That could be the problem? Any and all help is welcome. I will also take suggestion on a reasonably sounds card with rca outs.
