Hey everyone,

I've got a question. I currently have a Thermaltake 430w power suppy. I'm going to be upgrading to this mobo and the core i7 3770 (not the K version):
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

My questions is that since this mobo has an 8-pin cpu adapter, will the 4-pin adapter on my PSU work? I don't plan on doing any overclocking (hence the non K version).

It is also worth noting that my current setup is:
Core 2 Quad Q9400 overclocked to 3.0ghz
hd 7750 (no extra power needed)
2 hardrives and 1 dvd drive

Never once ran into an issue with power

I checked and the C2Q actually uses 95w + whatever is used for the overclock vs the 77w that the i7 uses.

Anyone have any input? I really don't want to upgrade the PSU so any help would be appreciated.

It won't hurt to try running with just 4 pins on the 8 pin cpu adapter. You can often find a 500w Corsair ps at newegg for around $35 after rebate if you change your mind.

nothing could get damaged if it doesn't work right?
