CASE: Aerocool Strike X Advance White Edition
MOBO: Asrock 970 Extreme4
CPU: AMD Bulldozer FX 8120 BE 3.1ghz 8-Core Processor (Black Edition)
PSU: Hec Cougar ST 600w 80+ Certified (Non-Modular)

CPU COOLER: Deep Cool Ice Blade PRO
RAM: Gskill Ares 8gb 4gbx2 Ddr3 1600 CL9
THERMAL COMPOUND: Noctua NT-H1 Thermal Paste

gonna use it for video editing now, hd movies, and then, up to date games @ medium or high settings @ 1440x900 something or less.. light overclocking @ 4.0Ghz everyday, gonna upgrade gpu and ssd later and mobo if i like amd's piledriver (not the a10 one)
as of now no plan to SLI or crossfire. and yes i like the gtx 650ti, i've read and viewed reviews that it is a good card, price/performance wise..

i live in the philippines so i can't use newegg as much as i want to..

More about : build approx 600

Great build. You probably won't have to change motherboard when Piledriver comes out. :)

I think you should get the 8150 already. Not much difference in price, I believe.
I'm sure the 650 Ti is a great card, but at that price range, the 7850 has better performance.

P.S - That's a great casing. :D

will I be able to overclock the 8120 with 970 extreme 4 @ 4.0Ghz and run at that speed each time/set that speed as default? is the ram compatible with the mobo, i've read issues with asrock mobo's ram compatibility, but the g.skill website says it's compatible with that mobo but in asrock's memory compatibility list it's not there.. the model is F3-1600C9S-4GAB / F3-1600C9D-8GAB.. no overclocking will be done on the ram.. any issues with the psu? can i lower my psu to 450w or 550/500w?

Yes, you can. I assume this is your first time in overlocking?

RAM is compatible with the motherboard. I believe ASRock doesn't really update their compatibility list.

I don't really like Cougar PSUs, and yes 500-550w would suffice for a single GPU.
Please consider brands such as Corsair, Seasonic, OCZ, XFX, and Silverstone. I believe those are available in the Philippines.

Thermaltake Litepower 500w (LP-500P) True rated vs Aerocool Strike-X 500w 80Plus Bronze (Modular)
October 14, 2012 1:34:37 PM

650ti at 6150 Php vs 7850 at 10500 Php, its already good enough for me, my monitor can only support 1440 x 920 sumthing (haven't bought a new one yet).. hell i can even play borderlands 2 in my 9500 gt, 650ti will be a huge upgrade for me already.. and i get around around 20 or 20+ fps with my 9500gt on lowest setting @ 1240 x 720
October 14, 2012 1:49:39 PM

yes, not much 650 ti around, did you also buy from that shop?
October 14, 2012 4:48:57 PM

I haven't really seen much about Palit. I guess they're not bad, but they're also not that great.
October 15, 2012 2:39:13 AM

true dat, have you tried buying at PCHub or EasyPC?
October 15, 2012 2:48:44 AM

Nope. I found this store to have the best prices, has a convenient and easy to maneuver website, a friendly cooperative staff, and prices are negotiable. They give a lot of discounts.

This is also the only store where I found 95% of the things I want, and even things I don't want.

P.S - The search tool is garbage, don't bother using it. The top drop down links are useful anyway.

will a cooler master hyper 412 slim fit in aerocool xpredator x1 white? urgent.. haha,
October 15, 2012 9:24:40 AM

A link to the casing's specs would help. :)

EDIT: I found it, it should fit.
October 15, 2012 9:37:05 AM

Okay, ignore my edit from the previous post.

It says the 412's dimensions are 128 x 70 x 160 mm (5.0 x 2.8 x 6.3 in).
Now if I'm not mistaken, and it would be safest to assume, 160mm is the cooler's height.

The Aerocool specs say it can only support up to 158mm. The general rule of thumb with coolers is to get at least 2mm of headroom, so you are now actually 4mm off.

So no, it won't fit.
There is a way around this, you can take off the side fan.

EDIT: Never mind, the specs say it supports 158mm WITHOUT the side fan. Sorry hun, it won't fit.
October 15, 2012 9:41:11 AM

yea, i hoped 160mm wasn't the height.. LOL
my plan is complete fas fans in front top and back..
so if no sidefan/s it should fit right?
October 15, 2012 9:42:29 AM

No, sorry. :(

I edited my post.

Why would you get the FX-8120, the i5 - 2500k out performs it in gaming. It depends if video editing is your main priority though ... I think the FX 8120 out performs the i5 with heavily threaded applications.
October 15, 2012 10:15:16 AM

Oh .... I just checked prices on a bunch of Philippine PC stores and I can see that even if you convert the prices on newegg or microcenter or others to PHP then take into account shipping and etc, most stores sell things by at least 1000 pesos more .... damn huge profit margin.
October 15, 2012 10:22:14 AM

8120 cause i'll do some frequent video editing and i might explore 3d modeling in the future while i wait for piledriver or that other one amd's gonna release..
October 15, 2012 10:26:41 AM

@excella yeah, i really wanted that, that case was awesome but sadly interface so I'm currently asking them what other cpu coolers they have, since I want to buy all items from one store..
October 15, 2012 10:32:40 AM

Which store?
October 15, 2012 10:35:12 AM

interpace computer systems
October 15, 2012 10:40:59 AM

Gaisano? Their website sucks, so I can't help you with their items.

But yes, I talked to one of their staff in the past, and they the -best- prices.
Ask them if they have that casing I linked.
October 15, 2012 10:42:37 AM

stock cooler + thermal compound + complete case fans? will that suffice i'll overclock the 8120 @ 4.0Ghz...
October 15, 2012 10:44:59 AM

It's gonna run really hot especially on load.

You can just postpone the overclocking part 'til you get a decent cooler, you know.
October 15, 2012 10:46:40 AM

no stock with that, that's my first choice case so here we go...

CPU: AMD Bulldozer FX 8120 BE 3.1ghz 8-Core Processor (Black Edition)
MOBO: Asrock 970 Extreme 4
GPU: MSI GTX 660 Twin Frzr
PSU: Aerocool x 500w modular 80+ Bronze
Case: Aerocool XPREDATOR X1 WHITE (the spider thingy)
RAM: Gskill Ares 8gb 4gbx2 Ddr3 1600 CL9
Thermal Paste: Cooler Master High Performance Thermal Compound Kit
ADD FANS: Thermaltake Thunderblade LED Fan/ 12cm/ Blue Color

stock cooler but hey i got the 660!!!!

ooooo, ok think i'll postpone overclocking..
October 15, 2012 10:57:53 AM

I believe it's good to go.
If you have that much faith in the Aerocool PSU, I won't stop you. :p

If the CPU comes with a stock thermal paste, you don't have to buy the Cooler Master. Difference in temps wouldn't be that much.

October 15, 2012 11:14:54 AM

i'll come back tomorrow with psu options, i've sent inquiry to them regarding these psu
Corsair VX550w 80plus(True Rated)
Corsair 600w CX600 V2 Builder Series 80Plus Certified
Fsp Raider 550watts 80PLUS Bronze
Silver Stone 500w SST-ST50F-ES true Rated
Zalman 500w psu ZM500-GS
October 15, 2012 11:23:45 AM

Hun, you won't need anything more than 550w for your system.
550w is actually plenty already. :)
October 16, 2012 2:47:42 PM

Quick question,

Aerocool XPredator X1 White
AMD Bulldozer FX-6100 Black Edition
MSI 990FX-GD80
Palit GTX 650 Ti
Gskill Ares 8gb 4gbx2 Ddr3 1600 CL9 F3-12800CL9D-8GBXM
SanDisk SSD Extreme 120GB

Will an Aerocool X 500w 80+Bronze Non-Modular be enough to power this safely?
And Aerocool is the only brand available with different wattage so yeah,
October 18, 2012 1:10:08 PM

Quick question:

Do I need to connect the 6 pin connector from my psu to video card (650 Ti)?
My last PC I had a 9500 GT and I didn't connect the any pins from psu.
