Time for and Upgrade?

Hi guys,

I built my first (gaming pc) about three years ago and ive been very happy with everything so far.

I've looked at the recommended system requirements for Far Cry 3 and i was thinking it might be time for a slight upgrade.

Heres my current specs:

CPU: Phenom II X4 965 BE
MoBo: Asus M4A79XTD EVO
GPU: Saphire HD 5870
Memory: Xms DDR3 2x2GB 1600 cl7 Corsair RAM
PSU: 750w Corsair XT
Windows 7, 64bit

I was thinking the RAM needs an upgrade and then probably the graphics card. Any suggestions for a speficic graphics card?

Also any other upgrade recommendations other GPU or Ram would be appreciated

All feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

More about time upgrade
  1. The processor is fine, its still enough to play games.
    No point upgrading the mobo.
RAM can do with an upgrade. See if you can find another of the kit you already have. If not, 8GB of 1600Mhz CL9 will do just fine.
PSU is fine, though should start thinking about replacing it in a year or so as it is getting a bit old and PSU's do degrade over time.

Which GPU you could get depends on the amount of cash you have to upgrade.

    ~$150: HD7770
    ~$200: HD7850.
~$300: GTX660Ti or HD7950 depending on games you play.
    ~$400: GTX670
    ~$450: HD7970 Ghz
Money grows on tree's where I live: GTX690.

EDIT: Also, dont make multiple threads on the same topic. Your first one hadn't even fallen off the first page.
  2. Ok thanks, good advice.

Yeah won't do it again just hadn't gotten replies for a few days on my old threads so i was getting impatient.
    I'll wait in future.
