Recently upgraded CPU, not meeting expectations

I've recently made significant upgrades to my PC but the performance has not met expectations, especially in the gaming department, where my friends who have 2.80 ghz processors and older video cards are running more smoothly at higher settings. My Video card is the NVIDIA GeForce 560.

Windows Experience Index gave me a 7.6 on all except data disk transfer rate, could this be the problem or could it be my motherboard which is slightly more dated than the other components (MSI P67S-C43 (B3)? It's very frustrating especially when you're as computer stupid as I am :)  thanks.

Forget windows rating, seriously! Just ignore it, it's just stupid... It's all wrong and it just doesn't work... If your PC feels fast. You're OK :)  I never seen 7.9 (Maximum rating on Windows) on any CPU exept when I OC something like a i7-3770k over 5.0GHz which is very very difficult!! Just use another benchmark :)
