Hello everyone,

I never built a computer before and I'm planning on building a gaming rig. I need some advice about the

computer parts that I am considering to buy. I did some research on the parts already but I'm having a hard time

deciding on some of the parts I'm going to choose. Mainly because I'm trying to not go overboard

on my budget and to keep it as cheap as possible so that I can buy a monitor, but I'm willing to pay a little bit

more if its worth the upgrade and if it is not that too expensive. I might do sli and overclock down the road so

I'm choosing the parts that can readily provide that for me on this build. I appreciate any suggestions, feedback

or useful insights on this build.

I will be playing FPS (bf3, crysis, borderlands 2), Action adventure, STRATEGY (company of heroes and the like)

and mmo (D3, GW2)

Budget Range: trying to keep more or less $2100 (including the monitor)

System Usage: mainly GAMING, surfing the internet, doing homework, watching movies

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg.com, amazon.com

Location: California

Overclocking: Maybe

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1200, ( I'm looking for 24" display)

PLANNED COMPONENTS OF MY BUILD:

CASE: CM storm stryker

CPU:Intel Core i7-3770K

MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Maximus V FORMULA LGA 1155 Intel Z77

ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77

ASUS P8Z77-V DELUXE LGA 1155

This are my choices for my motherboard. Please help me decide and any suggestions will help.

RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

CPU COOLER: corsair H100

SSD: Kingston HyperX 3K SH103S3/120G 2.5" 120GB SATA III

HHD: Western Digital caviar black 1TB 7200rpm

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW 2GB

PSU: SeaSonic X Series X-850 850W

MONITOR: need help on this one. I want 120hz and 24" display.

Please let me know if I'm looking at the the right parts or if I need to change something. Feedbacks are well appreciated.

Solution
Overkill.
1) Get an i5. Don't need an i7.
2) I would get the P8Z77 V or ASRock Extreme 4/6.
3) You don't need more than 8GB.
4) The Noctua D14 is cheaper than the H100 and cools better.
5) All you need is a 600-650w PSU.

Yup, overkill.
I5 gives you I7 performance when oc'd a touch
Hyper 212+ cooler is all you need for a beastly 4.6Ghz OC.
8Gb ram is enough
Get the P8Z77 V
don't see the need for 120hz, this should dohttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236102

Thanks for the input.

by i5 you mean the 2500k or 2600k? and should I go p8z77-v deluxe or should I scale down to p8z77-v pro?

The noctua d14 I dont know if it will fit on the board. I mean wouldn't my memory stick be in the way if i'll try to

mount the d14???

The psu yes Ill scale it down.
