Biig problem - XP 1800+

I got a Athlon XP 1800+ this morning, put it in, boot it up and it only runs at 1150 mhz !?! This points that the clock frequency is 100 instead of 133.. When I try to set it to 130 (the biggest value in my bios) it wont boot
I'v got a Chaintech 7AJA2, 256 133mhz SDR, GF2 GTS
Help would be GREATLY appreciated (before i start cappin ppl : )

What is your Power supply? Its best to have it at 300 watts or higher

Whats the BIOS version? It has to be at least version 4 (2001/9/12) to support AMD XP CPU (According to Chaintech anyway....).

I'v looked on the net and other ppl have had the same problem but with different mainboards... Thats why im asking here

amd mobos come with 100fsb default as a precaution. if your mobo can support 133 then you just need to find the correct jumper in the mobo to switch it to 133fsb. read your mobo manual and it will tell you how to change to 133fsb if it supports it.
am i right inthinking that that mobo is sdr? if you are dropping an xp1800 in you will not see full performance. i recomend you upgrade the mobo as well.

F***ing ppl in chaintech didnt publish on any manual (neither the one i got with the MB nor the 1 i d/l-ded of the net) where and if a 133fsb jumper existed... So I figured it out by myself.. Took me 6 hours to figure it out but stil..

Hopefully you already owned the motherboard, and didn't buy it with a processor that is optimized to run DDR RAM, but your motherboard only runs SDRAM, you're right from what I found out for myself from Chaintech, they weren't much help at all as a matter of fact, from what I just encountered at their website, I personally will steer away from purchasing any Chaintech products at all. I would suggest getting a new motherboard with DDR RAM capability and at least one 256Mb PC2100 RAM module for optimum performance of the processor you've got.

You never know what you can do until you try.
