24-pin power cable won't go all the way into motherboard

I put the 24-pin power cable from the PSU into the motherboard, and it is mostly in, but there's a tab on the side of the connector that's supposed to clip over the motherboard outlet (whatever it's called) and it's definitely not able to do that. It's just kinda sticking out. Also, it looks like the connector could go in a little bit more, but I've shoved it in as hard as I dare and it isn't budging. Should I a) not worry, and feel confident that when I turn it on everything will run fine or b) Shove it in with all my strength?

  1. I hate when they are that tight and I've taken to attaching them on a workbench where I dont have to worry about bending the motherboard as much.
