You might need an optical drive to install windows.

Network card is integrated into motherboard nowadays. So is the USB.
You must have been out of the loop quite a while.

And what do you mean by sata drive? A hard drive, SSD, or an optical drive? They all use sata.

a surge protector should be used, no matter what kind of pc you have.

a NIC would come built in on any modern day motherboard, so you really wouldn't need a separate card.

USB2 also comes standard on new motherboards (USB3 as well)

optical drive, yes that would be needed, depending if its Sata or IDE thou, as most new motherboards do not support IDE devices anymore.

and you asked a recommendation on a SATA drive? are you asking about a hard drive?

I read these requirements out of a website, but thanks anyways. Isn't the HDD pretty much the hard drive?

I always use a surge protector just in case...

You should not really nead the interface card unless your mobo has really slow or inconsistant internet.

should not need usb card unless you use more usb devices than you have plugs on your mobo...

Always need an optical drive, if for nothing else than to load windows, and make repair disc.

Recommended sata drive (s)...

System drive http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?...

Storage drive http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.aspx?...
second choice http://www.microcenter.com/product/334293/Barracuda_1TB...
