Hi guys

About a month ago, my cpu overheated and i had my mobo, cpu, psu and ram replaced. The psu is clearly ruined but i wasn't sure about the other componenets so I sold them off.

RAM: Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR2 800
Mobo: MSI K9A2
CPU: AMD X4-955 Phenom II 3.2GHz BE

The guy who bought my ram did not get back to me so I take it as the ram works fine.

Another guy whom I sold my CPU to said that, the cpu works fine at first but after gaming for a while, his pc wouldn't on as well. Also, he said that his mobo might be fried.

My questions are, can an overheated psu ruin other components (make a cpu go bad)? can a bad cpu ruin a mobo?

Thanks guys...

A psu can fry anything. It's less likely with newer ones.

As far as cpus, I'll share my experience.

I garbage pick a lot of computers and a few times I've done silly things like try to fry an egg with a processor etc (no it doesn't work). When you remove the cooler while the computer is running, the processor fries within a few seconds. In the couple I tested, it took the board with it.
