Hello, so I am making a budget gaming rig, so far I have everything picked out, but I am wondering if an Intel i5 3350p will suite my needs for a while, or should I spend the extra $10 (Which would be nice to save) on the i5 3470. Also if it matters, my graphics card will either be a 7950 or 670.

More about : 3350p 3470

Save $100-150 on graphics card and get a Radeon HD 6850 or a GTX660ti. Then get an i5-3570k.

I hope you mean 7850 not 6850. You should get the 3350p since it doesn't have integrated graphics, which you don't need, and is only a little slower than the 3470 all in all its a better price-performance. Though it MIGHT, just might, bottleneck the 7950....

No...this is bad advice. You should always get the best graphics card you can afford when building a gaming system. The CPU is a secondary concern. The 3550p has more than enough muscle to handle a 670 or 7950.

Drop down to the 7870XT and grab a 3470, its well worth the extra $10 since if can OC to 4.0ghz while the 3350p can only OC to 3.7ghz

You always want the best graphics you can get
7950 is good card though priced a bit high without too much gains (relative to price/perf)

if you've got an old GPU lying around for troubleshooting purposes in case the GPU fails on you, or not at all worried/annoyed by this scenario, the 3350P is good.

otherwise, if you feel you need the onboard GPU just in case, 3470.

keep the 7950/670 if you're not all into OCing the CPU or plan to buy a 3570K much later. i'm doing well with an i5-2310, and i reckon i can wait another 2-3 years after upgrading the GPU before doing an overhaul.

EDIT: or simply get a 7870XT instead of the 7950 if you're looking to save up

Ok, I was planning to get a 7870 XT, but then I found out the 7950 came with Crysis 3, and Bioshock INf

The 7870XT gets you tomb raider and Bioshock as well

Depends if you want tomb raider or crysis, but you can always sell tomb raider and use the money to buy crysis 3 or trade for crysis 3

Worst advice ever, even if you meant the 7870.
