Usb wireless adapter forums

Hello,
I have a desktop that does not have have a wireless compoinent installed in it it was purchased in 2006 and is in excellent condition is it easier and better not to mention cheaper if i purchase a USB Wireless adapter rather than taking it to a store to have something installed on the motherboard?
