Using Premier Pro with HD6870

Hi..!

Im going to be using Premier Pro CS 5.5 for video editing on my Pc.

I heard that it is best to have a Nvidia Graphics card as the software in Premier can make use of CUDA graphics acceleration to improve the performance of the Premier software.

This will involve buying a whole new card, but if i keep the one i already have, will i really see any noticeable difference if i upgrade simply for the use of CUDA?

What improvements will i 'actually' see in throwing away my XFX Radeon Hd 6870, and replacing it with a GigaByte Nvidia GTX 560Ti ?..?..?

Is it worth it, i mean, what are the 'real time' benefits here, do they out weight the trouble and cost ill need to invest, the Radeon 'is' good, surely Premier Pro will use 'some' of the 6870 capability,...?

What are the specs for the rest of your system? Of course, you won't be able to offload from the CPU to the GPU without Nvidia's CUDA support, but if the rest of your system is up to the task, it may not be too big a deal.

Of course, you could always sell the AMD/ATI GPU and buy a new Nvidia GPU. Also, make sure you look for a supported NVidia GPU:

Will you be upgrading to CS6.0 or higher? They take advantage of OpenGl - AMD will have a better card in that case HD7950/70 3G card would do well I think.

Well, i wont be upgrading to CS6, only using CS 5.5 for now, so wont be looking at another ATI card..

Can i not use open GL on CS5.5, with my Radeon HD6870?

Maybe my specs might be OK anyway with the current card? I have;

Intel i5 3470 quad core turbo boost
8GB 1600 Corsair Ram
SSD 500MB Read Write
500GB Seagate 7200

How would it perform like that? Would my graphics card 'NOT' work at all with premier pro?

Your system will simply render with the CPU and you have plenty. Having an ATI/AMD CPU should be of minimal concern.
