Hello everybody
some advice needed on a firmware upgrade for my 6230.
I don't really have much gripes with the phone apart from one very annoying
problem. When i send a text msg, instead of getting the normal service reply
beep when my balance is shown / text msg sent, i get the tone which is
associated with a text msg being received. I know this must sound trivial,
but it is very annoying. I have tried turning of the service msg reply's
along with other stuff, but none of this cured the problem.
Has anyone else been plagued with this, and did a firmware upgrade solve the
problem ?
Currently have version 3.15 firmware.
Ps, would any of the current features of the 3.15 firmware be lost, if i
upgraded to a newer version ?

Automatic volume control will be a casualty of the upgrade, and there
are usually new bugs introduced whenever a new formware version is
released. Only do it if you can't live with the release you have now!

When you speak of "automatic volume control lost", are you referencing the
side volume cntrl button whuich is on the left hand side of the phone, that
controls items, such as the hands free loudspeaker ?

No, I mean the option for automatic volume control that is available
in earlier versions of the firmware. It's the first option under
Settings->Call Settings on my v3.17.
