Video card seems to stop working randomly

To start, here's my setup: GTX 550 TI, Raidmax 530w PSU, and M3970AM-HP (Angelica) motherboard.

I am getting this random issue where my video card feels like it stops working. When gaming, I will randomly drop from 60~ fps to 15-20. The problem continues until I restart my computer, and it will happen again at a random time. I've already ran driver sweep and got rid of all the drivers from my previous AMD card. I've had this issue for a while now and I'm stumped as to why it happens, any ideas?

Also, when this happens my computer still detects my video card and the fans are still spinning normally. The card isn't overheated (60 degrees C) and it seems to be fine, but is just not working.

Driver sweeper is not a proper solution. All it does is delete stuff, it does not fix problems. If you switch from AMD to NVidia or vice versa it is always recommended to perform a complete reinstall

By complete reinstall, do you mean I should wipe all my drivers on safemode and install my NVIDIA drives again?

Do you have the latest driver?

I have the latest driver from the NVIDIA site.

By complete reinstall I mean wipe the whole drive and reinstall the operating system
