HI,

I'm having an intel DG35EC classic series motherboard. And i wanted to buy a graphic card. The graphic card requires PCI-E 3.0 bus bus standard..will my motherboard support this graphic card..will it also support PCI-E 2.1 bus standard?

what difference will it make between these standards in terms of performance?

What is PCI express x16?

It will support 3.0 one without any problems, but I there's a chance it will not work with 2.1, however.

There is almost no performance difference between them.

PCI express x16 is a slot on your motherboard.

There is no difference between PCIE 2.0 16x and 3.0 16x until you have multiple powerful GPUs (such as 3 way crossfire/sli).

PCIE2.0 and 3.0 are interchangeable, you can run a 3.0 card in a 2.0 slot (I am doing this on my PC). It simply operates at PCIE2.0 speeds, which are more than fast enough to support a single gpu.

Just remember that the bandwidth of PCI-E x16 1.0 is half of 2.0 and a quarter of 3.0

Yes but it's still large enough so you don't lose performance.
