6 and 8 pin connectors

Alright, this is the first time I've seen an 8 pin connector and had to use a converter. The converter is leaving me with 2x 4 pin peripheral connectors (One with 2 allotted pins, and one with 3). Do I need to plug both connectors into the power supply or just the one? I'm about to do an external test boot and wanted to make sure I had it set up right.

Sorry, it's 4:30 am, should have said this is for my GTX 670 graphics card. Although I've sure it was sort of a give in.
