Get a 750W PSU instead and that should leave you enough room for a 660. Maybe even a 660Ti.

If you can decide if you will overclock now, that would be great. May give you more savings and a better GPU.

That should be the starting point for your build. You're going to need a powerful video card to pull that off, and with a $1000 budget that means giving up the 3570k.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3450 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($186.97 @ CompUSA)
Motherboard: ASRock H77M Micro ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($69.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($39.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($89.99 @ NCIX US)
Video Card: Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 3GB Video Card ($387.86 @ Newegg)
Case: Antec Three Hundred Two ATX Mid Tower Case ($54.98 @ NCIX US)
Power Supply: Antec Neo Eco 520W 80 PLUS Certified ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply ($46.98 @ Newegg)
Optical Drive: Lite-On ihes112-04 Blu-Ray Reader, DVD/CD Writer ($54.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $931.75
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

Even this may not be enough to meet your performance requirements. You may want to think about increasing your budget by $300-400 so you can get a 7950 crossfire system.

This is a really great build BUT if you sacrifice the Blu-ray writer you can make a better , more future proof PC.

The build i made is a bit slower slower than the one he made in terms of graphics performance (2%) but more than makes up for it in CPU speed because it uses a multiplier unlocked Core i5

significantly better than anything posted so far (they all have thier strong suits but this is better to every single build in every single way ;D )

it is slower than the build i made (graphics wise because its graphics card is lower clocked) its graphics card uses the reference coller which is pretty loud , uses a lower end case and a slower , lower quality hard drive and its motherboard is known to have VRM overheating issues. The only thing that really sets it aside from the other builds is that it features a CPU cooler.
