get a cheap little AM3+ motherboard with a 970 chipset, best bang for your buck right now, then you should upgrade to Steamroller. While waiting for Steamroller you should overclock your CPU.

If its for gaming you will not get much of a performance increase without a new GPU. As for overclocking its not hard but read some guides you can easily find on google and ask specific questions in the overclocking section if you have any, but get a good cooler before you start (not an expensive one a 212 Evo is good and cheap).

Unless you're getting a new CPU now, hold off on the motherboard...generally better to get that sort of thing at the same time, otherwise you'll find a CPU you like isn't supported by the new motherboard etc etc.

We really need some more info...what do you do on your PC? What's your budget?

I use it for WoW 90% of the time. I'd just like to be able to play with graphics set on ultra and have no lag.

Other than WoW I just use it for typical things net, movies, and music.

My budget doesn't really exist but I do not want to spend more than what makes WoW ultra settings and no lag.

I do play WoW too with i7 2.8 GHz first generation W/O OC, GTX 560Ti and it's work very good and any under 1000$ gaming PC now will work perfectly with Ultra sittings :) just make sure CPU Intel & GPU GeForce

I play on Spirestone in a guild called <Adapt>

I just bought the HD6850 so I really do not want to buy a new GPU.

I have always been a fan of AMD/ATI so I will stick with them. i7 is so sweet tho.
