Hello,

in my current computer I have
Q9450 2.4 @ 3.2GHz
ASRock P45TurboTwins2000
2x 4GB G.Skill PC3-10700
GTX 560 ti

I have 4 and maybe 6 2TB SATA 6 HDD

I was thinking of keeping the GTX 560 ti and put it in a new system, so I will only need CPU + MB + RAM, I'll try to find a cheap video card for the Q9450 and just use it for non gaming

here is what I found so far, I'd love to have your point of view, I'm counting on black friday to buy everything, so I guess the prices will go crazy next month

CPU $220 Intel Core i5-3570K
MB
$279 ASUS Maximus V FORMULA LGA 1155 Intel Z77
OR
$189 Asus MAXIMUS V GENE Z77
RAM (need help here)
I can't find F3-17600CL9Q-16GBXLD

I took the RAM idea from here http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/z77x-up5-th-z77a-gd80-z77-oc-formula,3305-20.html
I want a motherboard with a lot of SATA 6 ports, that's why I was thinking of going with the Maximus as the SABERTOOTH Z77 just has 4 ports vs 6 ports for the Maximus

Both of those boards are just totally overkill. There's gotta be something for cheaper that has more SATA 6's.

Also, keep in mind you are going to need an aftermarket cooler for your new processor. A CoolerMaster 212 EVO should do.

EDIT: Also for gaming 16GB is not necessary.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor ($189.99 @ Microcenter)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H ATX LGA1155 Motherboard ($133.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory ($38.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $362.97

The mobo has 4xSATA 6gb/s and 4xSATA 3gb/s. SATA is backwards compatible and nothing but an SSD can max out a SATA3gb/s link.

I'm looking for a good MB with as much SATA 6 as possible
but you do have 16GB right?

I didnt know partpicker, many thanks for that!

for LTE (long term evolution) I'd prefer to have as much as possible on SATA 6

---

now about the RAM and MB
the test from toms indicate they use PC17600 while some of you indicated PC12800
for overclocking it's better to have a higher RAM frequency right?

for the MB I really do trust Asus, I had many problems in the past with C2D and Gigabyte, which MB would you recommend then? 6 SATA 6 would be great

about the ASrock, the Asus V is the same price, so better go with them to get the 5 year warranty right?
