the i3+$110 is worth more than a 2nd hand 3570k IMO, your friend should be asking for something more like i3+$50-70. but that's just me. Definitely take the processor upgrade out of the two though. that will give you performance increases for everything, whereas the SSD will pretty much only improve the OS load speed. plus, with you 212 (provided you clean and re-thermal it right) will allow you to take your 3570k from a stock of 3.4 ghz to around 4.5 if you're lucky, yielding far greater benefits that a SSD ever could! just note that if you are going to put that processor in your motherboard, make sure you have upgraded your bios to the latest version!

best of luck

The i3 is about $120 while the i5 is about $225 though

I prefer not to buy used unless it's from a direct friend

assuming 75% value left in the chips (I tend to peg value at 66-75% for used items in good conidtion), the i3 is $90 and the i5 $170 so I would say pay $80 and trade the chips and only if you know the chip has not been abused

66% would drop you into $80 and $150 for difference of $70

excellent explanation, i tend to value chips that have been used for OCing at a tad under the 66-75% marker as you don't know if they have been done properly. good info though for the OP

yes i was thinking about it i don't have a way to know if he has done abusive OC, reducing considerably the chip life., But he told me is selling his complete rig because some money problems, he also have a GA Z77 D3H mobo and 8gb kit Corsair vengeance1600mhz.. i'm going to ask him about a complete CPU+Mobo+Ram change +the 110$, if he say No then ill just offer my CPU+80$.
