i7 is probably the best for OC - since it's the highest-binned chip. Best bang-for-buck in gaming is definitely the i5-3570K, though. And almost all of those can hit 4.5GHz no problem - as long as you have the cooling capacity.

8350 overclocks pretty well, but an overclocked one can use up to 100W more power than a overclocked i5/i7.

There weren't many of them around, but my thought was the 2550K always overclocked a little bit better because they didn't have a video cheap to worry about. Might be an urban legend, though.

For a gaming rig you want the i5-3570k out of the bunch. For a gaming rig that you also do work like large compiles, video processing, 3D models/CAD you would want to step that up to the i7-3770k.

The AMD should only be considered if budget is a greater concern than performance.

8350 is the best bang for buck

100w bla bla bla you are talking a few bucks electricity wise

real world terms the 8350 is just as good.

btw look up ''tek syndicate'' youtube

proofed the amd 8350 to be just as good and if not better in certain areas

in terms of price the 8350 is just ridicalouse, chuck all the daft bencmarks which a milli secs/seconds yeah seconds and a few fps difference. real world terms over benchmarks for me as benchmarks are optimized for intel :)

This is completely wrong. For a gaming machine you want the i5. It's only about 20 bucks more (about 10%) but in many games it is upwards of 50% faster. http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/697?vs=701

The AMD does a lot of things quite well, gaming is not one of them.

I think youl find that your wrong! Also have u been listening to far too many intel story's, also the whole computer industry is optimized for intel, who arent on intels books? Also can u independantly back this up? Tek proved on youtube that the 8350 was more than a match for the i7, also 50% performance lol playing a game at a decent fps will be more than fine with the 8350 above average infact! Also can u spot the 50% increase over the 8350 during gameplay with your eye! Can u? Doubt it very much

Your opinion is very valid, but a video can show anything even if it's not totally true.
