I just bought a new graphics card upgrading from the 550ti to a Radeon 7850 which I thought was going to be really beastly, until I started to notice I was getting better GPU usage and performance in some cases with the 550Ti. I cannot get passed around 50% gpu usage. It seems to stop the usage after getting 62FPS in games. The thing is, whenever I turn quickly, you can see the screen tearing until the GPU Usage goes up. I turned off VSync in CCC and in the game, but its not seeming to work. Any advice?

Specs:
- AMD Phenom II x6 1055T
- MSI Radeon 7850 Twin Frozr 2GB
- 500W Cooler Master Power Supply
- 1.5TB Harddrive
- 6GB Ram

EDIT: Also I am running a 1366*768 monitor. I get around 62 FPS on every game like I said, but its tearing every time I look someone fast. It will drop in frames until it uses more usage from the GPU

Update your drivers

I updated them all when I got it which was around a week ago. Also I was overclocking it and ran higher fan speeds, which did not increase the performance but decreased it lol. All I changed was the core clock to the highest which is what most people say they do.

But even on BF3 I can only seem to get it to 62 frames until it stops again. So this is going for all games.

lmfaooooo thats why you have to increase your voltage on the card... search up some tutorials to get a stable overclock for the 7850

That still doesnt help the problem for the card not maxing out. I mean, on the benchmarks, people are getting the same performance as me at 2560*1600 resolution at the same settings.

I ran performance mode on the program an I got these scores.

GRAPHICS SCORE
5884
PHYSICS SCORE
4858
COMBINED SCORE
4578

Also saying this after the test.

YOUR RESULT HAS THE FOLLOWING PROBLEM(S):
Benchmark tessellation load modified by AMD Catalyst driver, result invalid. Check your video driver settings.

Yes, but that doesn't rule out a heat issue. If the card is throttling due to bad cooling, it would explain that odd behavior.

Doesn't go passed 60C at all. Averages around 56C.

I think I found the problem. I was testing on skyrim and tried seeing when it had this problem. It was only in the open spaces of the world. So I stood still at the top of whiterun and got 40FPS. I lowered my CPU to around 2.2GHz and got 30FPS. Then did it again to 1.5GHz and got 20FPS. So now I need a new processor.

That's what I was telling you. You can simply get a cooler like a coolermaster hyper 212 or EVO and overclock the cpu to 3.2 or more and you'll be fine.

I just looked into the BIOS and I cannot overclock. Any suggestions on what I should do next? CPU? Motherboard?

Yep prebuilt. I was thinking of replacing the motherboard but its ganna cost some money lol... guess ill have to wait it out with this performance for now until I get some money somehow.

Do you think I should just take the GPU back for 250$ and get like an i5 3570? Right now I have 80$ to spend and probably wont cover the motherboard and cpu fan.

Sorry about the late reply, but its a default gateway one. I cant overclock it from the bios I found that out, but I might go with a new mobo. Not sure what im actually doing yet.
