My floppy drive icon has disappeared from "My Computer" and I cannot use the floppy drive because my pc does not recognise that it is there. The problem all started when I was downloading Norton Antivirus.I was prompted to make a rescue disk and so clicked yes, then I was prompted that floppy boot log record could not be found. This is probably because I disabled recognise floppy drives when started in the "my computer" properties. But after going back and re-checking this box, it still wont recognise the floppy drive.
Could someone please tell me how I get my pc to recognise the floppy drive.
Thanks in anticipation.
can you access a: on DOS prompt? and in DOS mode?
If you can do it in DOS mode but not on the DOS prompt, your Windows setting is out. Boot into DOS mode (not safe mode DOS) and restore the registry with the command scanreg to the one before you installed Norton Antivirus.
Scanreg will have a Restore Registry option which will allow you to select a backup that dates before you had problems.
