Hello,

I hope to build a PC this year but I won't be using it for gaming due to very important exams this year, I feel I need a PC though. I was thinking of this build without a discrete graphics card (using the CPU's integrated graphics instead) because I won't get any use out of the graphics card this year.

I would appreciate any opinions on the build I'm thinking of.

Processor: Intel core i5 3570K

Motherboard:ASUS P8Z77-V PRO

RAM:Corsair Vengeance - 8GB 2133MHz

Storage:Samsung 830 Series 128GB 2.5" SATA600 Read: Up to 520MB/s - Write: Up to 320MB/s

Seagate 1TB 3.5" SATA-600 7200rpm 64MB
Barracuda

Power Supply: Corsair - Enthusiast Modular TX650M

Case: Corsair Carbide Series 300R

Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

and a DVD drive

Thanks in advance for any replies!

1) Get a cheaper mobo. The PRO is great, but a cheaper mobo has 90% of the features. The ASRock Extreme4 is good.
2) RAM is overkill. 2133MHz will provide very little performance increases and will damage your mobo's RAM controller because of the high voltage. Stick to 1600.

Thanks, I wasn't sure which RAM to go with so I chose the one with the higher number haha, for the Mobo I only chose the PRO for its Wifi module, does the Asrock have something like this, or would I just be better buying an external wireless module?

I'll go with that one then, thanks for the advice

Also, if I want to upgrade the motherboard in the future what would I need to do? It's not as simple as just swapping it out, I know that much, but if I buy the retail version of Windows 7 would it be easy to upgrade the motherboard while basically keeping the programs and files the exact same, as if nothing was ever done?
