Hey Guys,
I'm looking to put together a new system in the next couple weeks. I would love to get some input on what I've come up with. This will be my third build. My last build was about three years ago. This system will be primarily for flight simulation games and some video editiing.
Motherboard: I'm looking at the Asus Sabertooth Z77 LGA 1155. My last build was a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P LGA 1366. I'm looking to take advantage of the new 6 gb/s SATA tech. with a Corsair Neurton GTX SSD for my Windows 7 OS plus the new 3.0 USB.
CPU: i7-3770 Ivy Bridge with a Noctura NH-C14 cooler. It's only $20 more for the 3700K but I have no plans to overclock so I didn't see the need.
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8 GB (2X4 Gb) DDR3 1866. That will give me the option to add another 8 Gb in the future but right now I can't see needing more than 8.
Video Card: Asus GTX 680-DC2T 2Gb. This will replace my Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 1GB. I plan to start with one card but move up to two in the future to run four monitors. To start with I have an ASUS VH242H monitor but I am looking to add three 27 inch monitors later.
All of this will go in an Antec 900 case. My last one was an Antec 1200 which I loved, but way to big. I have an Antec Signature SG-850W in my current rig that I will probably just keep for my power source.
My goal is to get the most out of my flight sims with added Mega Scenery and other add on features. While I like to fiddle with computers, I've never messed with overclocking and not sure I ever would.
Any thoughts?
Thanx
